It's amazing that even after Edwards' confession, the denial of his Kossack defenders perserveres. Forget Elizabeth's statement, and the ridiculously maudlin fawning response of this community. Guys, the guy is still lying. Elizabeth is complicit in the lies. He likely broke campaign finance regulations. He paid the mistress over 100k for videos that hardly aired. Yes, he essentially used your money to pay off his mistress! How can you say that it "doesn't matter," or that all of this is somehow an invasion of his privacy, when he is mishandling campaign donations made in good faith. It's like Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Anyway, the mainstream media is now fully engaged, and making Edwards look more and more duplicitous and pathetic by the day.  

Big news today about Mark Warner giving the keynote speech at the convention. But even more interesting is Mark Ambinder's report that Obama is pushing Warner to submit to V.P. vetting. And, surprisingly, Warner continues to resist.

To all you Edwards defenders who rationalize that his infidelities are private and totally irrelevant, I direct you to Edwards own words, cited here.

This is really a no-brainer. Whether the Enquirer's allegations are bogus or not, a prominent Edwards role at the convention would be a troubling distraction as the media would focus on nothing else.

Seems that some Edwards people agree.

There's been much made about Bill Clinton's less than supportive remarks about Obama in an interview with ABC News found here. Of particular interest is this:

Alright, so now the feds have proof that Roger Clemens lied under oath and procured steroids.

This whole steroids thing with baseball has been a calamity. Some blame the players and some blame the league for lax enforcement and implicit encouragement. I reject that and place the blame squarely on the moronic self-deceiving fans of MLB who were distracted by pretty home run chases while denying the blatant obviousness of what was happening to the sport.  

Drudge and CNN are making a big deal about vulgar comments Jesse Jackson apparently just made about Obama. Apparently Jackson was not aware the comments were being broadcast. There are several reports about it, but I can't find anything with the actual quotes from Jackson.

After years of studying the WWII era including wide-ranging scholarship on the rise of Nazism, I remain at a loss in understanding the unfathomable evil of the nazis. There appears to be absolutely no rational basis in all that is human for what the nazis did.  

Yeah yeah, call me a jerk, but I have to admit it is true. Supporting Obama in the primary against Hillary was some of the most fun I've ever enjoyed with politics. I'm a democrat who believes the DLC Clintons and their minions were/are a disgrace to the party. So you can understand how I'd feel being part of the process that humbled the Clintons while elevating a man of Obama's character and grace. There was something cathartic about it.

One of the most troubling things about the Clintons has always been their associates and hangers-on, sleazeballs and hucksters like Terry McCaullife, Lanny Davis, Paul Begala, James Carville, Mark Penn, Sideny Blumenthal . . . the parade of horribles is unending.

Is it any surprise then that never say die Clinton defender, Lanny Davis, is now employed by Fox News? Here is the article.

So this is the classy way HRC will bow out, essentially demanding that Obama buy her concession. Check out this article currently being linked by Drudge. Ultimately, she just wants the Clinton family millions back in her pockets.

I think John King deserves a shoutout.

He always bases his analysis purrely on the raw data, refusing Wolf Blitzer's constant invitations to deviate into baseless speculatation. As a result of this emphasis on the data, there is never even a hint of bias in his reporting.

Get a load of this quote from HRC regarding the gas tax issue:

Say what you will about Zogby, but this is some intriguing polling. He tested both Obama and HRC in a 4-way national race that also includes Bob Barr and Ralph Nader.
