denounce & reject.

Sat Mar 15, 2008 at 08:10:05 AM PDT

This morning, I thought about all of the people in my life who have occassionally been politically incorrect, or offensive, or even hateful.  I thought about the standards being applied today and realized...denouncing and rejecting are pretty hateful, in and of themselves.

Changes at MSNBC?

Not much of a diary here, but anyone watching Tweety today can see that he is asking real questions.

MSM so damn depressing

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 04:06:43 PM PDT

Yeah, so I'm watching the news (or what passes for such in the Mainstream media) on Cable TV, and I just saw, for about the 10,000th time, another repeat of a Hillary-lovin SNL skit.  Then, the latest on Samantha Powers, then the notion that McCain would gain more Dem voters than Obama would gain Repub voters (based on nothing more than conjecture, as far as I can tell.

Here they are

I rounded these numbers down to the nearest thousand.  All from Texas counties reporting sites.
UPDATE: KOS just posted front page diary with links to Burnt Orange Report who are going to have great breakdowns of all of this.

Time to pull together

I support Barack Obama.  I have many friends who support Hilary Clinton.  I like them.  In fact, we were friends before all of this started, and we will be friends after it's done.

Lots of snowfall.  about 6 inches last night, still falling steadily.  91 people showed up (about 500% of normal turnout, I was told).  Expected to be one of very few Obama supporters, but was pleasantly surprised.  Obama took 5 delegates to state convention, Hilary took 3, vote was approx 57 to 34, with some absentee ballots for Edwards & Kucinich.  A nice, vigorously argued caucus, except for some old guy in the corner screaming Obama is a muslim.  Turnout was almost all white, older folks.  10% young families.  2 african-americans.  Quite surprising turnout for a snowstorm.  Obama suporters pretty fired up.

David Schuster: BEFORE YOU JOIN THE LYNCH MOB

Yep.  It sure was stupid of David Schuster to suggest that the Clinton's were pimping out Chelsea to get votes.  It was objectionable, it was unacceptable.

Obama Victory

Tue Feb 05, 2008 at 07:40:40 PM PDT

Last week, I posted a diary reminding Obama supporters that he was down in the polls by 20% two weeks ago.  I wrote that Obama would win if the following happened:

He wins the following states:

Colorado
Delaware
Connecticut
Georgia
Illinois
As well as a number of the caucuses (Idaho, Alaska, etc)

He stays afloat in New York, California, and Massachusetts by staying within 5-10 points of Clinton in these states.

He either wins or comes DAMN close in Missouri and Alabama, and shows a surge in New Jersey.

So far, it's all happening, plus a big win in Connecticut and better-than excpected performances at caucuses.  If he stays within ten in Cali, then it's a war of attrition that he can probably win.

Expect the delegate counts to be quite close, when it all gets figured out sometime tomorrow.

When listening to the spin tonight, make sure to check out the beads of nervous sweat on the faces of Clinton spinmeisters Terry Macauliffe and Mark Penn.  That should tell the real story.

What victory for Obama looks like on Tuesday

Sat Feb 02, 2008 at 10:11:42 PM PDT

Remember: Obama was down in the polls nationally by 20% or so within the last few weeks.  It is almost inconceivable that this kind of gap could be closed so quickly, irregardless of momentum and enthusiasm.  So here's my picture of an Obama victory on Super Tuesday:

I am voting for a President, not a "commander in chief".
